The Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) program to assist and prepare over 200,000 Servicemen and women who separate annually from the United States Military to begin a new life chapter as a civilian. DOL requires contractor services to support these transitioning service men and women through its highly successful Transition Assistance Program (TAP). TAP is offered world-wide to conduct job assistance workshops, employment counseling, apprenticeship program placements and employer outreach.
The DOL VETS TAP program needs a skilled and compassionate Curriculum Tech Writer who has prior experience in creating training courses within their designated area of responsibility. You will be part of a small team of writers, curriculum and instructional designers, and graphic artists who work closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality systems.
Must be able to attend meetings in Eastern Time Zone Hours.
- In this role, you will:
- Research content for each course.
- Design and develop fully accessible, course deliverables based on Adult Learning theory.
- Contribute to all phases of the development life-cycle.
- Write well-designed courses for each target audience.
- Review and edit other courses within the TAP library.
- Maintain currency of courses in circulation.
- Remain current on developments with your area of responsibility.
- Operate on a fully remote team with oversight and autonomy.
- Meet all timelines to maintain development schedules.

Qualifications
- To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor's degree and 4 years related experience.
- Previous experience which demonstrates an understanding of private and public sector employment processes.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat and virtual meeting platforms.
- Experience as a classroom instructor.
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Additional desired experience and skills:
- Degree or certifications in curriculum development, instructional design, adult education or human resources.
- Knowledge of the military community.
- Previous experience in the TAP program.
- Available during standard working hours Monday-Friday. We operate on the Eastern time zone.
